Wes Craven
Wesley Earl "Wes" Craven was an American film director, writer, producer and actor. He was known for his pioneering work in the genre of horror films, particularly slasher films, where his impact on the genre was considered prolific and influential. Craven had a prolific and influential role in the way that people make slasher movies today. Craven had the idea of creating horror movies that are realistic. Also, craven liked to challenge the audience's opinions of safe places. Usually people associate houses, hospitals and police stations as safe places - meaning that when people are in these places, no harm can come to them. When Craven was creating the scream movie series, he changed people's perceptions of where a safe place was because most of the horror/slasher scenes are in safe places such as houses. Craven sadly died in August 2015 at the age of 76 due to a brain tumour, but his legacy continues and people still use his ideas in horror films. |
