Clowns In Horror
There's no specific time where evil clowns came about but there are cases over time where they've appeared. The evil clown is another form of the traditional comic clown character, in which the character is instead seen as disturbing through the use of horror and dark humor. The modern form of the evil clown was popularized by Stephen king's 1986 novel it. The character can be seen as playing a clown to target children who suffer from coulrophobia. Stephen kings it became the first to introduce the idea of an evil clown to the modern audience.
'It' is a 1986 horror novel by author stephen king. The story follows seven children as they are terrorized by the clown, which exploits the fears and phobias of its victims in order to disguise itself while hunting its prey. "It" mainly appears in the form of a clown in order to attract young children.
